Mind-blowing Monday # 1 - Scrabble
Hey guys!
It's time to introduce a new element of this blog: Mind-blowing Monday! Every Monday I will share something that I find interesting or "overwhelmingly impressive" as the definition below suggests. There are so many wonders out there after all, why not discuss them more?
First up is this article from The Guardian that I stumbled upon while browsing a couple of weeks ago. It's about New Zealander Nigel Richards who won the Francophone World Scrabble Championships - even though he doesn't speak French!

If that's not overwhelmingly impressive then I don't know what is! The story amazes me for so many reasons
1) Scrabble championships exist?! People get together with strangers and play, with a judge and everything?
2) Richards managed to win by memorizing the French Scrabble dictionary. He memorized the words without knowing what they meant, just the combination of letters!
3) Before he memorized the French's Scrabble dictionary and freakin' beat every single one of them at their own game, he was known as the greatest English Scrabble player ever.
4) He didn't start playing the game until he was 28. 28! What if I'm going to be World Champion too someday and I just haven't discovered my talent yet? Nigel Richards gives me hope.
I highly recommend you to go read the full article from The Guardian because it was such an entertaining and informative read (yes really!). Did you know that many countries have their own Scrabble associations? Or that some consider it a sport? What are you waiting for, click away and broaden your horizons!
Got to come up with a good way to wrap up my posts... À bientôt? See you later? Til next post? You get the idea!
Wishing all of you a wonderful Monday.
