Hey there, and welcome to my blog!

I hope you will find it interesting - whether you are family, an old friend or just a random stranger that found your way here by browsing! Let's begin with an introduction, shall we?

 

My name is Julia and I'm based in the beautiful city of Jönköping, Sweden. As you may have guessed (but hopefully not...) English is not my mother tongue. I do however have a genuine passion for languages which is part of the reason I chose to write this blog in English and not Swedish! Another reason is that I want my foreign friends to understand what I'm writing. Over the years I have met some wonderful people from different parts of the world, both online and while travelling. I hope that I get to meet many more, since learning about different cultures and traditions is pretty much the most interesting thing ever!

 

I think this interest is part of what brought me to Jönköping and Jönköping University (JU). I just started my first semester of Media and Communication sciences, and by the time I finish my bachelor's I will have specialized in Global Communication. This whole university experience is still brand new and sometimes quite overwhelming. I will write more about this as we go along so stay tuned.

 

So why did I decide to start this blog in the first place? Well, first of all it is a convenient way of sharing everyday thoughts and experiences with my loved ones at home. It also provides me a bit more freedom than social media - this is MY platform and it offers many ways of self-expression. I am free to customize the design, to take and publish photos and write different kinds of texts (without compromising on the rights to my material...) The possibilites are endless! Thus this project will encourage me to be creative, and hopefully push me to become a better writer.

 

I have tried blogging in the past, but it didn't really go that well (I want to express my apologies and deepest gratitude to those who actually read the dull stuff I posted). Back then I had the same urge to write and express myself as I have now, but I was so insecure. "What do I have that others don't? What's my niche?" I couldn't figure it out so instead my blog turned into this very general description of a not-so-interesting everyday life. This time I'm hoping to find the courage I need to publish deeper, more reflective content. We'll see how that goes!
