I moved to Stockholm

It's been a while! A LOT of things have happened since I last checked in here. Let me try to summarise:
  • I wrote my Bachelor's thesis. It was interesting, but also required a lot of coffee and produced a lot of tears. Glad I don't have to do that again!

  • I went to Amsterdam. Such a lovely trip, nothing wild - just cozy times! Literally went to sleep around midnight every night, haha. Is this old age sneaking up on me? Anyway, I fell in love with the city, the canals and crooked houses. Will write up a post about it soon and show you photos.

  • I got to speak in a panel discussion about democracy, inclusion and representation! How cool is that? It was held during a forum for democracy and movement that Kulturhuset in Jönköping hosted. I was honored to be part of it, and I got to meet many inspiring activists during the forum! I sure hope it's not the last opportunity for me to do something like that.

  • I worked on a project for Jönköping County Administration (? Länsstyrelsen in Swedish, if anyone knows the correct translation please send it my way). My friends Jonathan, Linnéa and I worked on a strategy for them. It was hard, but also very interesting. I dare to say I had fun! So glad I got to do this project with them - having good and supportive company is so important!

  • I moved out of my room in Jönköping and slept on my sister's couch for two weeks (thanks!). And then...

  • I moved to Stockholm!!

Why? Because tomorrow I start my internship at RFSL. Behind the acronym is a non-profit organisation - The Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Rights! The organisation has done important work for equal rights for a long time, ever since 1950! I'm excited to gain insight to their field and help out with the communication.

If it surprises you that I sought out an LGBTQ-organisation for my internship, I don't know what to tell you ;) I'm aware that it might be confusing for some, since this is the first time that I'm openly proclaiming online that I'm part of the LGBTQ-community. I haven't felt the need to do so before, since everyone who I'm close with and most people who are around me in my daily life already know. It took me a while to get to this point... But I've decided to live openly and genuinely - offline and online - while pursuing the things in life that are meaningful to me.

I've only been here in Stockholm for a couple of days, but I already feel comfortable! I don't know how permanent this move is... But I at least know that I'll be here until I graduate in the beginning of June. Life after graduation day is honestly a big blur at the moment, but I'm learning to be OK with that and go with the flow!

That's all for now. Time to prepare for the big day tomorrow!
