Home for the holidays 2016

Happy Boxing Day!

I hope you had a great weekend, wether you spent it celebrating Christmas or not. If you did, I hope you got to spend it the way you wanted. There is just so much to live up to when it comes to Christmas... You are "supposed to" have all these things. Good, preferably home-made food, a spotless clean home with just the right amount of decoration. Not too much, nor too little. And of course, the perfect gifts for everyone... While also being super polite and happy and well-rested and don't forget about the Christmas cheer and GOD FORBID THERE IS ANY STRESS. You aren't stressed are you?!!

My point is, that all these things are incredibly hard to achieve. Both traditional and social media keeps telling us what our holidays ought to be like. No mention of stress, mental or physical illness, conflict, financial struggles or other things that impact many people daily. Christmas is no exception. Something gets in the way of that cheery, magical Christmas we've been told we should achieve - like you know, life.

Okay now I'm starting to sound like a bitter old Grinch. I'm just trying to say that it's okay! It's okay if everything didn't turn out to be perfect this holiday. Let go of that, celebrate your own way and if you can, choose to do things that you enjoy and spend time with people that give you good energy.

So what has this little Grinch been up to during Christmas? Well, I spent two days in my pyjamas petting dogs and it was wonderful! There has been a very chill and laid-back atmosphere here, which I appreciate seeing as I haven't slept properly for like... 2 weeks? So taking two naps a day has been AWESOME. For Christmas Day yesterday I actually got dressed and got out though, to meet up with old friends. It was well-needed!

We have been taking care of this little Ewok-looking dog during Christmas. We made pretty good friends and he even sleeps in my bed. I'll miss him!

Garbage humans, but not. So much love for these ones!

Til next time! / Julia.
