Day 2: Walks, Autumn Views and Kangaroos
We got back from Sydney pretty late and we were both very tired, so it was nice to be warmly welcomed into Daniel's home. He has told me so much about Canberra, so experiencing it first-hand is exciting. There's something very special about being welcomed into someone's home, meeting their family and getting to see the place where much of their life has been lived. I was feeling a bit nervous before I went here, I will admit that, but all those feelings are completely gone now. I feel comfortable and very much at home, probably thanks to the fact that Daniel and his parents have been so lovely and helpful!

The next day, I went for a walk while Daniel was working. May is an autumn month here, as you can see. I absolutely love the colours!

Had to take a double look when I found this colorful friend.

The Australian coat of arms: an emu and a kangaroo. Speaking of kangaroos, I have now seen them in real life! Scroll down for terribly blurry proof.

Despite being tired after work and sleep deprived, Daniel went with me to spot some kangaroos! It's one of those things I've been very excited about seeing (the harbour in Sydney being another. Blame Finding Nemo...), but I definitely didn't expect to run in to a whole group of them the day after arriving! We could get really close to them and it was SO COOL.
Til next time! Stay tuned for day 3...
